Groupwork

Confidence Building I

We wish you a warm welcome to three half-day courses packed with lots of practical information and ideas. The group is held in a comfortable, light and airy room and all refreshments are included.

You may be nervous about coming to a group course so the group is kept small with no more than eight people attending. You will not be asked to say or do anything that you feel uncomfortable with and you only need share your experiences if you wish to. We ensure that the group feels safe and relaxed and that attendees are respectful of one another. You can speak to me beforehand about any questions or concerns you have.

This course explains exactly what confidence is, we examine the building blocks that make up confidence. Armed with a full understanding of these building blocks you will be able to develop more insight into exactly which of these building blocks are ones that you struggle with.

Think, feel, act and become more confident.

Anxiety and Stress

This course explains exactly what anxiety is and how it holds you back.

We look at how anxiety builds and why it takes over your life if left unchecked. Just being aware of how it works gives you back some control and reduces anxiety.

We then give you very practical strategies for managing anxiety. This will result in you controlling the anxiety rather than the anxiety controlling you.

We also look at stress and how the strain of things in your life puts you under pressure. We take a practical look at different aspects of your life and how you can make changes in how you run your life to ensure that you tip the balance towards coping, rather than being run ragged.

Divorce Support Group

The psychological impact of divorce or separation can be immense and this support group will help you to make it more manageable.

I aim to provide a safe environment for you to discuss all the issues surrounding separation and divorce.

This gives you and other members of the group an opportunity to share your personal experiences which enables you to feel less isolated.

Coming to a support group reduces the acute stress, distress and anxiety you feel and lessens the need for family and friends to become too involved.

For instance you will be able to discuss the sharing of children between new households or the loss of a particular lifestyle.

The group is a safe space to air grievances and frustrations.

However it also provides a quiet place to grieve the loss of the familiar family unit.

Ultimately, the group aims to empower you and encourage a newfound sense of control.

Each group runs for one and a half hours each week at the same time, for a fixed period. After an initial consultation you can join a group but if a group is not something you would like to try, you can continue with individual sessions.

Parenting

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding things anyone can do but it doesn't always feel that way! I can work with you to help you:

  • Understand ways to build a better relationship with your child.
  • Provide discipline to help them manage their behaviour.
  • Help you to develop ways to encourage their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Gain insight into their emotions and help them learn how to manage their emotions in a more positive way.
  • Consider ways to help your child become more secure in themselves and gain independence.
  • Help you to develop a better bond with your baby or toddler, or older children.
  • The ideas behind the way I work are based on the scientific knowledge about how children bond and this is called attachment theory. I also base my work on the scientific knowledge about how and why children behave the way they do, behaviour therapy.
  • You can come to see me individually or even bring a group of friends to pick my brains about tips and techniques for helping your children or teenagers.
